Source-defined surveillance reports of organisms producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases or AmpC; infection and colonization may not be separable [2].
Disease overview
BacterialESBL/AmpC-producing organism surveillance
ESBL/AmpC产酶菌监测
ESBL/AmpC-producing organism surveillance refers to source-defined monitoring of bacteria that produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamases or AmpC enzymes, which confer resistance to third-generation cephalosporins and other beta-lactam antibiotics. A meta-analysis of 157 studies including 37,915 patients with Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteremia found that ESBL-producing strains were associated with significantly higher 30-day mortality rates, particularly in intensive care unit settings and hospital-acquired infections [1]. Infection and colonization status may not be distinguishable in surveillance reports [2].
